Frogman’s offers a range of different activities and projects—including workshops, exhibitions, assistantships, and scholarships—and its website fulfills a number of distinct functions—including showcasing participating artists and past workshop portfolios, along with workshop registration. The workshops are their core business, but they were getting lost among the many other functions of the site, and registration was overly-complicated. Design strategy included making the workshops the focal point and streamlining the workshop registration process.
On the old site, the content was difficult to update. Each time the owner of Frogman’s needed to change information, the website developer had to be contacted directly to change the site code. The owner of Frogman’s needed to be able to easily make his own content updates as well as allow Frogman’s research assistants to easily add and change content. Development strategy included coding the entire site to make future content updates a very simple process for the Frogman’s staff, as well as using JavaScript to properly format the HTML behind the scenes, so that Frogman’s staff can type ordinary, non-formatted text in WordPress.
